Account / Contact Ownership Explained

Updated over 3 months ago

Overview

What is Account and Contact Ownership in Evergrowth?

Account and Contact Ownership in Evergrowth lets you assign and manage who is responsible for specific accounts (companies) and contacts (people) within the platform. There are two types of ownership fields:

  • Owner: The person assigned to the account or contact within Evergrowth.

  • CRM Owner: The person assigned to the account or contact in your connected CRM system (like Salesforce or HubSpot).

This feature helps teams manage, filter, and reassign accounts and contacts efficiently, especially when syncing with a CRM or when team members change.

When should I use it?

  • When you need to reassign accounts or contacts due to team changes (e.g., someone leaves).

  • When filtering lists to focus on your own accounts or contacts.

  • When setting up default views for easier daily workflow.

Before You Start

  • Make sure all team members who should be assigned as owners are invited to Evergrowth and have accepted their invitations.

  • Ensure your CRM is integrated with Evergrowth if you want to use the CRM Owner field.

(For Admins) Troubleshooting: Owner Not Appearing in Dropdown

If you do not see the person you want to assign as owner:

  1. Go to Settings >> Team Members.

  2. Check if the person has been invited to Evergrowth.

  3. Make sure they have accepted the invitation.

  4. Once confirmed, retry the ownership assignment.

FAQ

What is the difference between Owner and CRM Owner in Evergrowth?

The "Owner" field shows who is responsible for the account or contact within Evergrowth. The "CRM Owner" field shows who owns the account or contact in your connected CRM system. These can be the same person, but do not have to be.

What should I do if I cannot assign ownership to a specific person?

Check in Settings > Team Members to ensure the person has been invited to Evergrowth and has accepted the invitation. Only then will they appear in the owner assignment dropdown.

Can I change ownership for multiple accounts or contacts at once?

Yes, you can select multiple records (even across multiple pages), then use the "Assign Owner" action to reassign them in bulk.

Why is it important to manage account and contact ownership?

Proper ownership ensures that reps see only their relevant accounts, supports smooth transitions when team members leave, and keeps your CRM and Evergrowth data aligned for reporting and workflow automation.
